The last time I left you, it was Saturday morning of my vacation in San Francisco for my cousin’s wedding. That morning, I arose early to get in a quick morning run along the bay!
It ended up being more of a “walk” than a “run” though, since I was worried that I might get lost and wouldn’t get back to our hotel in time
But that ended up being for the best – I find that walking lends itself to better sightseeing than running does, especially when in a new location!

My parents, Mike and I found a cute little cafe around the corner of our hotel for breakfast. Tiburon is an adorable town on the bay that is filled with ritzy, million+ dollar beach houses, quaint shops, and fine restaurants. I love how almost everything is within walking distance, and how the town is so QUIET! I kept thinking to myself how clean, quiet, and safe it felt. It is not very heavily populated, and everyone you pass on the street appears to be in a good mood!

To my shock and delight, the cafe had a Tofu Scramble on the menu!! I love California!! (My birth state…. why, oh why, did you move me to Indiana, Mom and Dad?!?!?)

I had the tofu scramble plus the addition of tomatoes.
We all split a fruit plate – the fruit was all extremely fresh and there was a lovely selection of mango, kiwi, pineapple, and more!

The view of St. Hilary’s church, where the wedding would be held later that night! It doesn’t look that far away, but it’s actually very high up in the hills!

This was a sign on the conference room at the hotel we stayed at.. hilarious!

More of the awesome homes built into the cliffs… anyone care to buy me one of these?

The streets of Tiburon

We took a ferry ride to Angel Island across the bay

On the island, I was, again, shocked to find a great vegan option! I got a wrap with hummus and veggies which was even better than I anticipated! It was chockfull of lots of delicious veggies including lots of artichoke hearts (always a plus in my book) and creamy hummus.

For dessert, I sampled this bar that my mom got for me to try from her local health food store. It was pretty good! It had gotten warm in my purse and the chocolate chips had melted… yum!
The hotel had complimentary tea service all day….. so cute!
Mike and I en route to the wedding later that night

The view from the church….. I wish you could have been there!!! It was truly an astonishing view…. this ranks up there as one of the top 10 scenic viewpoints I’ve ever been to! It’s hard to tell in the picture, but you could see San Franciso and the Golden Gate bridge in the background.

My aunt and uncle (parents of the bride) before the ceremony began

The beautiful bride, Jessica

Growing up I looked up to all my cousins – they always had the coolest clothes and cutest boyfriends – but Jessica was the closest to me in age and I spent years of my childhood trying to emulate her every move

I love the seagulls that were a constant presence during the weekend…. here we are at the Corinthian Yacht Club for the reception

Aren’t the placecards adorable, stuck into a wine cork? I hope Jessica and Ben didn’t have to drink 100 bottles of wine

Dinner was either halibut or pork chops, but I asked the waiter if they could just get me a plate of plain veggies and she was happy to comply!
I also munched on a Raw Revolution bar AND a larabar for dessert since I didn’t want to feel left out while everyone else was eating the cookies that were provided
A view from the next morning’s walk with Mike before leaving town for the airport.

Lunch in the Oakland airport was, yet again, surprisingly good. I got a veggie, bean, and rice bowl – it was even labeled “vegan” on the menu!

Thanks for checking out the pix from my weekend….. it would have been fun to attend FoodBuzz and to meet up with so many of you bloggers that I now consider to be friends – but I had an amazing weekend with my family, both immediate and extended, in such a gorgeous part of our country!
I have a few fun vegan dishes (main dishes and desserts) to share with you over the next couple days, and I also need to announce the giveaway of the Sweet Riot giveaway, which you can still enter! Have a great night!

I love it when I come across vegan food at restaurants, particularly when I am expecting the usual iceberg lettuce side salad! Looks like a gorgeous place and wedding too! Glad you had a good time.

Beautiful wedding! I love the church! Yes I was AMAZED at how friendly CA is to the vegan lifestyle. One reason I wouldn’t mind moving there.

Wow Val- absolutely beautiful. It solidfies my desire to move to Cali…. Now! Your cousin’s wedding looked fantastic and she will have the most gorgoues photos with that view! I can’t get over how much I want to go to Cali now. Perhaps I’ll have to do it on my own, but I don’t care!
GORGEOUS! We almost took a ferry over to Tiburon on Saturday after brunch, but opted to hang out at Pier 23 instead. Tiburon and Angel Island are going on my list for next time!! I may have gotten the green light from Jamie to start looking for jobs in SF muahahhahaha! Such a great city!!
