Hi friends! I keep forgetting to talk about a few new products I’ve tried over the past few weeks. Since I’ve made the transition to a vegan diet (which is partially to keep preservatives, hormones, and man-made substances out of my body as much as possible), I’ve also tried to be careful about what products I am putting ON my body.
I’ve attempted to avoid the following parabens and other ingredients:
- Butylparaben
- Isobutylparben
- Methlyparaben
- Propylparaben
- Diazalidinyl Urea
- Formaledehyde
- Imidazolidinyl Urea
- Methylchloroisothiazolinone
I’ve been using Good Health soap which was sent to me as a sample, and I apologize that I threw away the bottom to refill my soap dispenser so I don’t have a picture. You can find more info on their website - mine is lavender scented and I love the scent and the moisturizing quality of the soap.
The two products that are pictured I paid for myself. The Desert Essence deodorant I found at Whole Foods, and the price was comparable to anything you would buy at your local drugstore. I’ve found that this product has worked very well for me, hopefully the people around me agree with that statement
and so far it has lasted a very long time!! It is a hard gel formula so it won’t flake off and break like cheap, chalky deodorant usually does.
The other product, the J.A.S.O.N. Super-C Toner, is awesome!! At first my only caveat was that I didn’t care for the spray pump because I couldn’t get enough product out of it, but I fixed that by removing the spray pump so that I can just directly apply the toner to a cotton square. It smells great (like an orange) and makes me skin feel refreshed without drying it out. I also love the price – it was cheaper than anything I’ve gotten from the drugstore!
I would recommend all of these products, but don’t forget, you can always use do-it-yourself products too, like my DIY coconut oil facial scrub!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week!! I’m in the middle of making falafel balls for the first time, and then soon I’ll be off to the gym for spinning class. I’m excited because Thursday and Friday I’m going to be attending our state school social worker conference, which I’ve been to before and I always learn so much!!! So, for that reason it’s kind of like Friday for me which makes me happy

I hope you are having fun while learning so much at the conference, Val!
You totally inspired me to create my own face and body scrubs when I go back home next month. That’s going to be one of my November projects.
A few holidays back, an officemate gave me coffee-honey and brown sugar-oats scrubs. They were yummy smelling and felt so good on my skin.
I’m a HUGE fan of Jason products! I use their organic tea tree face cream and have been for about 10+ years. Just love it!!
Hey, congratulations! You won the giveaway on my blog for a free copy of The China Study. Email me your address and we will get the book sent to you asap!

Have you found a good paraben-free yet rich, moisturizer for face and/or body?
I primarily use Avalon products for shampoos, conditioners and soap and want to buy more paraben free cosmetics.
I’ve also tried the Whole Foods branded para-ben free shampoos… One thing I noticed is that without the soap sud chemicals, it’s quite difficult to build up a good lather. I know that the lather doesn’t equate with how effective the cleaning product is, but at least, I feel like I’ve cleaned my hair when I see the suds. Have you noticed this too with paraben free shampoos?
